So we left Buwama town at 7:00am, branched on the left to Ssakabusolo village where the event took place. It took us 10 minutes to reach the event place at Door of Hope School.
On our
arrival we met smartly dressed children (the graduates) assembled in their
gowns rehearsing how to match along with the band with the teachers. This was
its first kind in history to match alongside with the band. It took almost 30
minutes to rehearse. On arrival at 8:30 am, was the quest of honor who lunched
the matching in a special way and set off
match. The band played the songs well known to the children that made them excited alerting the community to cheer them up. We matched six miles as the vehicle used as an Ambulance picking those exhausted.
match. The band played the songs well known to the children that made them excited alerting the community to cheer them up. We matched six miles as the vehicle used as an Ambulance picking those exhausted.
Some young and adult people from the
community joined us that boosted our children to match further. It was very hot
as we climb up & down hills sweating heavily. This made us thirsty and had
some breaks at intervals to drink water. As soon as we arrived back to the
event place, smartly dressed guardians/caretakers and young ones who did not go
for matching, jumped off their plastic chairs cheering and joined the matching.
The excitement made the quest of honor also join the group as well, this took
almost 30 minutes. Immediately after the match, the guardians/caretakers, quest
of honor & well-wishers took their seats as volunteers and teachers serve
drinking water, porridge and eats to the children that almost took 30 minutes.
At 11:00am, the school choir
assembled in front of the quest of honor to sing the Anthems (National, Buganda
and School Anthem). They sung the Anthems alongside the band. After the
Anthems, classes (Baby, middle, Top, Primary 1, 2, 3 & 4) entertained them.
The entertainment was concluded by broadcasting news from a P.4 child.
After the class entertainments, speeches
were given by Chairperson Local Council, Guardian representative, Head teacher,
School Director, Executive Director Mother Mary Charity Organization and The
quest of honor who gave a speech about Positive parenting. Speeches were done
in intervals with the school choir entertainment.
After the speeches, the
Volunteers and teachers paraded the Top-class graduates to cut the cake and
receive their certificates. This was done by the quest of honor who handed over
the certificate to the graduates. Immediately after this activity, the quest of
honor lunched the distribution of clothing & other necessities whereby the
volunteers distributed the following bars of soup, sugar, salt, bed sheets,
paraffin, match boxes, blankets, and Vaseline jelly to ten elderly women, the
guardians to some of our orphans at their respective homesteads. But the
teachers distributed the clothing to the children and their guardians with the
help of the quest of honor.
After that activity, food was
served at around 4:00 pm to whoever was present at the event. Therefore the
head teacher thanked Mother Mary Charity Organization for their support towards
Door of Hope School as well as the guardians to send their children to school
regularly.
The event ended at 5:00 pm and
everyone was discharged.
